The 83rd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport promises to be an unforgettable event to kick off 2026 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit.

From emotional reunions to celebrations the likes of which Members’ Meeting has never seen before, here are all the things we’re looking forward to ahead of the opening weekend of the Goodwood motorsport season.

‘The James Hunt Years’

On the 50th anniversary of his World Championship triumph, the Goodwood Members’ Meeting will celebrate the legacy of James Hunt, one of the most charismatic stars Formula 1 has ever produced. An array of cars spanning the duration of Hunt’s F1 career — from 1973 to ‘79 — will take over the Motor Circuit, including the very McLaren M23 in which Hunt sealed the title in at the 1976 Japanese Grand Prix. It will be joined by other machines that made up those grids during those years including Ferraris, Brabhams and Tyrrells.

This embracing of the Cosworth DFV era promises to be a stunning spectacle, not to mention the magnificent sound we’ll all be able to enjoy during the demonstrations that will take place across both days of the weekend. And Hunt will be at the centre of it all, as we remember a man whose unique character and skills as a racer left an indelible mark on the sport.

‘The Barry Sheene Years’

Get set for a historic occurrence at Goodwood, as a single celebration will span all three motorsport events for the first time. The honour is bestowed upon Barry Sheene, legendary two-time motorcycle Champion, and Members’ Meeting will host its first ever bike-only demo when a collection of Grand Prix bikes spanning Sheene’s decade-long 500cc take to the track.

Sheene won consecutive World Championships in 1976 and ’77, reaching the pinnacle of his profession at the same time as his friend, James Hunt. The pair electrified motorsport in the 1970s with their roguish charm and cheeky personalities, so it only feels right that the legacies of these kindred spirits will be the central focus of the weekend.

Across the weekend, the Hunt and Sheene celebrations will be brought to life through a series of thrilling on-track demonstrations, while Sunday will see the first ever Members’ Meeting grid walk to combine cars and bikes, offering an unmissable opportunity to get up close to some of the most iconic racing machines of the 1970s.

With Steve Parish, Jonny Cecotto, Lord Hesketh and Anthony ‘Bubbles’ Horsley in attendance, the weekend will reflect the characters and legacy of a remarkable era. Central to it all is the presence of Freddie Hunt and Freddie Sheene – sons remembering their fathers – adding to the atmosphere of a weekend that promises to capture the spirit of a defining moment in motorsport history.

Super Touring Shoot-Out

A wave of ‘90s nostalgia is coming our way courtesy of the Super Touring Shoot-Out. After the success of the sidecars in 2024 and last year’s GT3 fest, 2026 sees a return to the golden era of the British Touring Car Championship when around 20 Super Tourers will be unleashed on the Goodwood Motor Circuit before a reduced entry list prepares to engage in high-octane battle in the Super Touring Shoot-Out.

The line-up will be spectacular, with iconic machines including the BMW 320i, 2000 Championship-winning Ford Mondeo, Honda Accord, Peugeot 406, Vauxhall Vectras from 1997 and 2000 and the Volvo 850 all confirmed to appear, each paired with some of the biggest names in touring car racing, from Colin Turkington and Anthony Reid to Matt Neal, Steve Soper, John Cleland and Rob Huff.

You’ll be sure to get your fix as these mega machines will be in action on both days of the event, practice and qualifying on Saturday with the final on Sunday, as this unforgettable era of touring car racing roars back into life at Goodwood.

Jenson Button reunited with his Brawn

A modern-day miracle unfolded in 2009 when Jenson Button and Brawn conquered the world of F1, and that magic will return when Button gets back in the cockpit of the BGP001 for demonstrations across the Members’ Meeting weekend.

Button, who picked up a first victory at the Motor Circuit at the 2025 Revival’s Freddie March Memorial Trophy, will now make his Members’ Meeting debut this April. This springtime visit to Goodwood delivers a rare opportunity for the driver, as it will be seven years since he was last at the wheel of the car that took him to the top, and this will be the first time ever that he drives it at Goodwood.

“I am excited to be making my Members' Meeting debut," Button said. "And in no less special a car than the Brawn BGP001. I last had a chance to drive it back in 2019, which was incredibly emotional and quite surreal. I cannot wait to experience that feeling all over again, and where better than Goodwood!” We couldn’t agree more.

Lanzante 95-59 Goodwood 01.jpg

Lanzante 95-59’s dynamic debut

On 18th June 1995, Lanzante secured its place in motorsport history with an overall victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Running the McLaren F1 GTR, the team delivered one of endurance racing’s most memorable performances – an achievement that not only defined an era, but firmly established Lazante among the sport’s greats. At the 83rd Members’ Meeting, Lanzante returns to that defining moment with a fitting tribute. Marking the 30th anniversary of the McLaren F1’s historic victory, the company has introduced a new, strictly limited production project, aptly named the 95-59 – a reference to both the year of triumph and the winning car’s race number.

First revealed at the 2025 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, the next chapter in the story is set to unfold when the 95-59 makes its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Motor Circuit during the event. The 1998 IndyCar champion Kenny Bräck has been heavily involved in the testing and development of the 95-59, and is expected to put on a spectacular demonstration of this iconic machine.

Super Sunday at the Motor Circuit

A look through the 83rdMembers’ Meeting race list reveals one attraction after another, but there’s a particular block of action that stands out. An afternoon of unforgettable on-track action is scheduled for Super Sunday, beginning with the second special demonstration from Button and his Brawn at 12:00.

That’s followed by a packed series of races, starting with the visceral experience that is the Bruce McLaren Trophy (12:25). The Phil Hill Cup (13:05) continues the V8 onslaught, before the VIPs of the Gordon Spice Trophy (13:45) are put to the test in iconic machines of British saloon car racing. Alongside reminiscing with his Championship-winning car, this year’s Gordon Spice Trophy will mark the competitive Members’ Meeting debut of 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button, who will be getting behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 for the very first time in what promises to be a standout moment in the race schedule.

We’ll then all be transported back to the ‘70s with ‘The James Hunt Years’ celebration (15:05) preceding ‘The Barry Sheene Years’ demonstration (15:15), as we honour the emblematic duo of the decade, before competition resumes with the Formula 750 and two-stroke 250cc and 350cc motorcycles in Part 2 of the Hailwood Trophy (ft. Sheene Trophy) (15:45).

The excitement goes into the evening as the Super Touring Shoot-Out Final commences at 16:10, with three races still to come. If it’s wall-to-wall action you’re seeking, then the Goodwood Motor Circuit is the only place to be on Sunday afternoon.

Oscar’s Nightclub at the Brooklands Lawn Shed

Day-to-day at the Goodwood Motor Circuit the Brooklands Lawn Shed is a relatively unassuming building, but at the 83rd Members’ Meeting it will become a key destination of the event’s James Hunt celebrations when it is transformed into Oscar’s, an homage to Hunt’s Marbella nightclub, named after his beloved German Shepherd.

This space will capture the vibrant energy of a destination that attracted drivers and celebrities alike, offering GRRC and Fellowship members the chance to step into the glamourous, hedonistic side of ‘70s F1 that characterised Hunt’s Championship-winning season. And on Sunday, Oscar’s will host the personalities who helped define the spirit — and excess — of Hunt’s era, from Hesketh Racing entourage to Hunt’s own family legacy, as Anthony Bubbles’ Horsley, Lord Hesketh and Freddie Hunt are all expected to be in attendance.

It’ll be a weekend-long disco at the Brooklands Lawn Shed as we celebrate the cultural moment that defined the decade.

The House Shield is up for grabs — with a new House Captain

Can Dario Franchitti lead Torbolton to three wins in a row? The House Competition is the most distinctive aspect of Members’ Meeting, as both drivers and riders and spectators can compete to earn points for their House. Upon joining the Goodwood Road Racing Club, Members and Fellows are sorted into one of four Houses: Methuen, Darnley, Aubigny or Torbolton, and this year allegiances can be proudly displayed with House pins collected from the Members’ Huts located in the Turning Circle.

At the conclusion of the weekend the House Shield is awarded to the House that accumulated the highest points total. Points are awarded for on-track results, while visitors can do their bit getting involved in a range of activities, from croquet, tug-of-war and duck herding to sim-racing challenges, stunt driving on the skid pan and the all-new Powerturn buggies.

And there’s a bit of added edge to this year’s competition between the Captains. Super sub Marino Franchitti is stepping up to replace Gordon Shedden as Methuen House Captain for 2026 while the latter gets his BTCC campaign underway at Donington Park. The prospect of Marino disrupting older brother Dario’s impressive captaincy record thus far has us even more excited for this year’s House Competition. After all, there’s nothing like a bit of sibling rivalry to heighten competitive spirits.

Bonhams|Cars Members’ Meeting Sale

Goodwood motorsport events always bring with them the excitement of an auction. The 83rd Members’ Meeting will be no different, with the Bonhams|Cars sale taking place on Sunday 19th April.

It should be an intriguing collection if last year is anything to go by. A 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC Coupé headlined proceedings in 2025, selling for £402,500. As the weeks tick down, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled as the new collection of lots reveal themselves.
