The newest cars to race at the Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport are the touring cars of the Gordon Spice Trophy. Wearing the interior trims of their road-going counterparts, these weaponised people’s cars trade the M25 in 1985 for the Goodwood Motor Circuit and car seats for roll cages as the sun sets on day one.
We say car seats, even though we can’t imagine the Boss Mustangs and monster Camaros that lead the order were ever used as family wagons. We also can’t imagine those same road-going counterparts ever came up against a Mini in a traffic light grand prix. But these race cars in the Gordon Spice Trophy do.
Not that the Minis, nor the Capris, Escorts, Rovers or any others could do much to dent the powerhouse Americans stranglehold on the leading positions. That is the power of power. Watch the action in its totality in the full race.
