We have featured the wonderful works of the Jim Stokes Workshops before on Elevenses. The reason being, well, why wouldn't you want to watch a video featuring some of the most precious and beautiful classic Alfa Romeos from the time when the marque vied with Lancia and Maserati to be the primo Italian name, long before the upstarts from Ferrari and Lamborghini entered onto the scene?
Video: This Alfa Romeo 8C sounds glorious
The Jim Stokes Workshop is famed for restoring and fettling the best of these cars, having the expertise to massage their straight-six and straight-eight motors, many of which end up reverberating around Goodwood at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. The best bit though is that Jim Stokes is just down the road and so it conducts shakedown tests on the West Sussex highways and byways we know so well. In fact we use them ourselves for our road tests. Sadly we are unlikely to ever be presented with the opportunity to put an Alfa Romeo 8C like this one through its paces. Although with a central accelerator pedal we might want to give it a miss anyway; a momentary lapse in concentration could have very costly results. This video is worth watching with the volume all the way up.
