Silverstone Classic auction raises £16,000 for HHF's family fund

23rd July 2018

More than £16,000 was raised over the weekend at a special auction for the family of Henry Hope-Frost, the "voice of Goodwood" who died in a road traffic accident earlier this year.

F1 teams, drivers and sponsors had all pledged items to the sale, held by Silverstone Auctions over the Silverstone Classic weekend. Top price of £7,200 was paid for a set of signed Lewis Hamilton race overalls, worn by the World Champion in 2017 at the Russian Grand Prix.

Among the many other items of F1 clothing donated for the sale were race suits from David Coulthard, Romain Grosjean and Felipe Massa, a Nomex top ex-Max Verstappen, and a pair of Kimi Raikkonen gloves – which sold for £1,000.

Signed pictures, books and photos all sold, while a McLaren donated factory tour for six people was snapped up for £1,000.

All funds raised are being donated to Henry’s wife and three young sons, the ‘HF Junior Team’. Henry died aged 47 in March 2018 riding his motorcycle home from Goodwood where, as GRR’s colleague and friend, he lit up the place with his “fever” – an unbridled love of motorsport in all its forms.
