Xavier Micheron, the man behind the wheel in this epic 180mph jet-engined racing car, is a bit of a Goodwood historics hero.
The owner of the Ascott Collection, which sells historic race cars, Micheron has raced more classics than most. And in this awesome two-angle onboard, he takes on the 2018 Classic 24 Hours of Daytona in a 1999 LOLA B98/10 LMP.
Chassis HU02, it has a six-speed sequential gearbox, rear-wheel-drive, a carbon-fibre monocoque and, of course, a big, loud engine: a 6.5-litre, 650 horsepower Ford V8.
Watch as he reaches in excess of 270km/h on the banked curve, pushing beyond 290km/h as the track flattens out in front of the grandstands.
Shared by Ascott Collection’s YouTube channel a year ago, the clip has only had around 200 views – a crying shame if you ask us.
Stay tuned for updates from our team on the ground at this year’s Classic 24 Hours of Daytona.
