As CEOs go, Zak Brown is pretty damn cool. When not overseeing McLaren’s racing output, in F1 and beyond, he’s got an eye on the road car business. When he’s not doing any of that, he’s out living and breathing the brand he represents at events like the Monterey Rolex Motorsports Reunion.

This clip from the 2023 edition has us on board with Brown as he hustles the formidable McLaren M8D Can-Am monster around Laguna Seca, battling other bewinged monsters around the Southern Californian circuit.
Brown has told us before, he’s far from the most accomplished racer but he’s giving the M8D a proper good run at serious speeds, running the chevy V8 through its revs. You can really hear those volumous inlet trumpets gnashing at the air rushing over and into them, feeding the monster underneath. There’s not a lot of tail happy action – Zak’s very much about keeping his Papaya McLaren on the black stuff. What a machine and what a cool guy.
