Video: Waving at a helicopter at 180km/h mid Dakar stage is cool

As of writing this, we’re nearing the end of 2017’s (that’s the 39th) edition of the Dakar, with the final special loop stage finishing at Riop Cuarto Bivouac occurring in just three days.

Adrien Van Beveren is a relative newcomer to the hallowed Dakar competitor sheets, having first ran in last year’s 38th running, taking sixth overall. Newcomer or not, Enduropale titles in 2014 and 2015 that he would go on to make a hattrick in 2016 obviously proved him a safe bet for the Job. This year he’s back and as the video above shows, he lends a sense of humour to proceedings. While traversing the 275km second stage on January 3rd, he saw fit to pop a wave for the onlooking helicopter as he battered the trail at 180km/h.
