Video: Watch a twin-turbocharged Huracán savage the Nordic countryside

Drag races and track times are all well and good, but if you want to get a true sense of the speed of a twin-turbocharged 1090PS (802kW) Lamborghini Huracán Evo then a hill climb is the place, as anyone who’s attended Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard will tell you.

Norges Råeste Bakkeløp – translated, if Google Translate is to be believed, as ‘Norway's Roughest Hill Country Race’ – is the Nordic people’s answer to Pikes Peak, with a little less gravel and many more opportunities to get up to speed.

In an effort not to turn man and machine into a 200mph fireball on road tyres, our driver, Fredrik Sørlie, holds a little in reserve, keeping well away from the dust and gravel that litter the edges of the track. Well, he says he does, the armfuls of lock gathered halfway into the run suggests Sørlie’s not holding too much back. There’s even a tunnel to savour the Lambo’s 10-cylinder barrage and surprisingly unobtrusive turbos.

Trees pass by in a green blur, as the Lambo fires towards the horizon like a Pamplona bull on performance-enhancing drugs, smashing the previous record set by a Porsche GT2 RS by more than a second.

Which leaves us with just two questions: how much do flights to north of the Arctic Circle cost? And what exactly will it take to beat that Lambo?
