Alpine boosts 2022 A110 range

Starting with the latter, yes, the A110 S is now even more focused than before, for better or worse, with a new aero kit including a wing among other carbon elements. The sports chassis is uprated to complement the 141kg of extra downforce. Also optional on the new A110 S are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres – very serious. As before, the A110 S comes with the uprated 300PS output from its 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

The spec for this year’s Legende GT limited-run car will be going into full production next year too in the new A110 GT for 2022. This will likely be the sweet spot in the range, combining the 300PS of the A110 S with the more everyday chassis setup of the standard car.

Perhaps the biggest news for those who know the somewhat lacking infotainment in outgoing A110s, is the arrival of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for 2022. While the hardware itself isn’t upgraded, the smartphone interfaces will bring a measurable improvement for owners. Not so important, unless it is to you, is the addition of the new Fire Orange paint seen here on the A110 S.

The new A110 range will start from £49,905 for the ‘basic’ car, jumping to £59,355 for the GT (our on-paper pick) and £59,995 for the A110 S.

We have it on good authority that the next A110 is being co-developed with Lotus as an all-electric model. If you’ve been waiting on pulling the trigger, 2022 might be the year. Or you could hold out for potentially an even more special variant prior to this generation bowing out in the coming years.
