The fourth-generation of the Continental GT has been teased. Taking over from the discontinued W12 and V8 engines, it'll break new ground as the first Bentley to use the new Ultra Performance Hybrid Powertrain.
As the second most popular model in the line (behind the Bentayga), one in every three Bentleys sold is a Continental GT, so it's an important one to get right.
Bentley claims this latest long-distance cruiser is the most powerful and dynamically capable road car in its 105-year history. 782PS (583 KW) and 1,000NM (737lb ft) are delivered from the new V8 engine and all-new accompanying electric motor, which is able to provide a handy 50 miles of electric-only range. A WLTP figure of under 50g/km also makes this Continental the cleanest of its lineage.
As for the chassis, its dynamics will be buffed by the latest generation four-wheel steering, active all wheel drive with torque vectoring with an electronic limited slip differential. It'll also have new dual-valve dampers.
We’re yet to see inside the car but you can anticipate über Bentley luxury with a new design, fortified by the latest infotainment and driver assistance tech.
Early next year will see the 100,000th Continental GT be crafted by hand in Bentley’s Crewe-based factory, with this next addition expected to be revealed in June. Then we will see the Batur-inspired styling in full and hopefully get some details on pricing.
