While a lot of Ford’s focus at this year’s SEMA show has been on customising its new and future products, it’s good form to bring a classic or two along, albeit with a twist. That’s exactly what it’s done in the F-100 Eluminator Concept, marrying 1970s style with 2020s all-electric power.

Yes, this is engine swap with a difference, with pistons and petrol making way for crate ‘motors’ from the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition as well as the high-performance EV’s battery pack. All in it packs over 480PS (353kW) and 859Nm (634lb ft) combined. The concept itself was built in collaboration with MLe Racecars on a custom chassis from Roadster Shop. The cabin features a stunning billet alloy dash by JJR Fabrication.
Far from being a quirky show car, this F-100 is designed to show off what customers could achieve with their Eluminator crate motors. The M-9000-MACH-E e-crate motor is available from vetted Ford parts shops or from Ford online and retails from $3,900. Each motor – the F-100 Concept has two – packs over 281PS (206kW) and 429NM (317lb ft). This is just the start in terms of Ford’s aftermarket electric offerings.
