Hyundai to sell cars on Amazon

Online vehicle sales via Amazon will launch in the U.S. in 2024, starting with Hyundai. Buyers will be able to find and buy their car – as listed for sale by dealers – on the platform, before picking it up from their local dealer.

Search criteria won’t be too dissimilar to conventional online car buying platforms, including model, trim, colour and features. Whether you’ll get the car quicker if you’re a Prime member hasn’t been specified…

“Partnering with one of the world’s most customer-centric organizations unlocks incredible opportunities as we continue to expand our portfolio, grow our sales network, transition to electrification and realise the future of smart mobility,” said President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company Jay Chang.

“Hyundai is the first automotive company available for full end-to-end transactions in Amazon’s U.S. store and this is another example of how we continue to push for ways to elevate the customer journey together with our outstanding retail partners.”

Also part of the partnership is Alexa integration in Hyundai cars, from 2025. Hyundai drivers will be able to talk to their car as they would their Alexa at home and get the same functionality – from audio including music and audiobooks – to setting reminders and calendar dates and updating to-do lists.

They’ll even be able to control their smart home from their car. Imagine being able to tell the car to put your heating on ready for when you get home… Alexa will also be able to help with certain driving-related issues, such as traffic information, weather updates and more.
