You'd think selling cars at auction is quite simple, wouldn't you? Cars arrive, people wave their arms around, then someone drives away in something shiny. As it turns out, selling a car at auction is much more complicated.
GRR went behind the scenes with Bonhams ahead of the 2019 Bonhams Revival Sale to se exactly what makes an auction run like clockwork. Not only does a Bonhams car need to be good but the car needs to match the auction and match the people attending – you're unlikely to see an 11-owner Vauxhall Corsa with no service history. Moreover, getting a good car to auction takes a lot of work beforehand. So how does it all work?
