Not so many years ago, the business of conquering lap records at circuits wasn’t what it is now. The Nürburgring seems to be a byword for the worth of a performance car if it’s to be taken seriously, while OEMs and the aftermarket alike continue to attack circuits the world over for honours. One of the most popular cars with which to tinker and go for a record is the Porsche 911, and it’s footage of a fettled GT3 conquering Laguna Seca that we bring you this afternoon.

With a time of 1:31:84, this run in 2021 made it just that: The fastest street-legal 911 around Laguna Seca. Making street cars super quick around tracks is big business, and if you can best everyone else’s car around big-name tracks, owners are more likely to come to you for their tuning. We just love how competition drives almost every corner of the motor industry.
