Video: The monstrous Nissan GT-R ‘Time Attack’
All things considered the Nissan GT-R is a pretty monstrous machine. It seems amazing that a company best known for building SUVs and hatchbacks can at the same time produce a vehicle that can embarrass supercars. And a more awesome display of the GT-R’s incredible abilities we couldn’t possibly have wished for at the 2014 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, when a GT-R NISMO ‘Time Attack’ climbed the Hill in less than 50 seconds. Fifty seconds.
We mention it often enough, but in case you needed reminding, the all-time record for 25 years was set by a McLaren Formula 1 car, the McLaren MP4-13 driven by Nick Heidfeld, with a time of 41.6 seconds. The Nissan GT-R NISMO ‘Time Attack’ in 2014, with tweaked suspension, a tall rear wing and Jann Mardenborough at the wheel, managed 49.27 seconds. There’s a reason the GT-R carries the name ‘Godzilla’.
