The new Vee Twin Belstaff by Goodwood

‘Addicted to Winning’ was not only the theme of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, it is also a sentiment central to all things motor sport on the estate. The new Vee Twin Belstaff by Goodwood leather motorcycle blouson is a celebration of that core adrenaline-fuelled value.

The Vee Twin is a perfect replica of the jacket won by Sébastien Loeb at the Festival of Speed this year for his winning of the Sunday Shootout in his sensational Pikes Peak Peugeot 208 T16. Sébastien’s version was hand-scripted by the British artist, Nicolai Sclater (also known as Ornamental Conifer), who painted ‘Addicted to Winning’ and ‘Goodwood’ on to the jacket’s back. A second similar jacket will be awarded at the Revival meeting on Sunday 14th September to the ‘driver of the weekend’. Derived from these two Sclater-scripted prizes, the Vee-Twin blouson is a beautifully-printed limited edition version of the very same jacket.

In style and function the Vee Twin is a minimalist café racer classic with a slightly distressed appearance. The ‘Addicted to Winning’ script on it’s reverse is faded to match. Short-cut, it is appropriately zip-fastened, with three pockets – one internal – and has zips to the cuffs to keep the drafts out. A stand collar with popper fastening is consistent with the jacket’s careful detailing. It fits to flatter, and is every bit the black café racer look.

Like the Stroker – its sister leather jacket in the new Belstaff by Goodwood range – the Vee Twin is named after an iconic type of motorcycle engine. In this case, the twin-cylinder and distinctive sounding Vee Twin.  Whereas Lord March’s grandfather and founder of motor racing at Goodwood favoured Flat Twin engines in his motorcycles, his grandson was a dedicated Vee Twin enthusiast for many years. In fact, Lord March scarcely drove a car in his youth, instead hurtling between London and Goodwood on the most exotic superbikes of the time – most of them with big Vee Twin engines. He only put his fiery steeds away when his business schedule got in the way of his flat-on-the-tank tendencies…

The Vee Twin blousson is the cornerstone motorcycle jacket for every collection, and has daily wear appeal coupled with the beautifully considered cut and detailing for which Belstaff by Goodwood is renown. It is sure to become a desirable collectors’ item.
