TWR Jaguars after dark

17th October 2020

In the late 1980s and into the '90s, TWR and Jaguar were a force to be reckoned with. They claimed outright wins in both the Le Mans and Daytona 24-hour races in 1988 and 1990, and 30 years on from those most recent victories we've brought together a host of the Group C campaigners to Goodwood SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard.

Tom Walkinshaw Racing was established in 1976, but the relationship with Jaguar wouldn't begin until 1982 when the team ran the XJS in the European Touring Car Championship. Fast-forward three short years and TWR progressed to building the Coventry company's endurance race cars. Prior to the 24-hour victories, TWR claimed both the constructors' and drivers' World Sports Car Championships in 1987.

This stunning image was captured by Nigel Harniman once the SpeedWeek action came to a close for the night on Friday. If you want to know more about the awesome TWR story, watch our GRRC Original ‘TWR and Jaguar: When the big cat roared’.
