Enjoyable weekends away in unsurpassed Italian style – that’s the promise of a special lot coming up for sale in the Bonhams auction at the 75th Members’ Meeting on Sunday March 19th. But this is no exotic Ferrari with a multi-million-pound price tag…
When car and caravan combinations click (not always, in GRR’s experience) they can be among the most alluring things on the road, and this super-rare combo surely clicks. It’s a 1962 Fiat 500D sunroof saloon perfectly paired with a twin-berth Levante Graziella 300.
The provenance of both is astonishing. The Fiat is one-owner-from-new, garaged all its life, original and unrestored. The caravan is a 1960 model and, says Bonhams, has never been used. The pop-up roof model comes equipped with kitchen, wardrobe, and a dinette that converts into a double bed.
Performance of this duo won’t be the most dynamic – the 500cc Fiat has around 15bhp and the 3m long caravan weighs almost as much as the car – but in the bellissima stakes it surely takes the panettone. As Bonhams says, it’s a “perfect holiday partnership that will turn heads everywhere”.
Guide price is £25-30,000.
