Resplendent in its Marlboro colours, the Rover is the perfect tool for the job. It has a long wheelbase, wide track, and forgiving character, perfect for the fast corners of the Goodwood Motor Circuit. It’s a special car, the first Rover SD1 to be built for racing and the 1982 French Touring Car Championship winner.
Chadwick’s first bite of the SD1 cherry comes with a wet practice session for the Gordon Spice Trophy, with deep puddles and water streaming the Tarmac. Before long, the track has dried out, and it’s time for qualification as Chadwick and teammate Nick Sleep hustle the big Rover around the circuit, the car lifting its inside front wheel as it turns in for the chicane.
How will car and drivers fare in the race proper? You’ll need to watch the video to find out.
