Video: Lewis Hamilton’s Festival of Speed debut

It’s funny to think that there was a time when Lewis Hamilton wasn’t a Formula 1 World Champion. And yet here, when Hamilton made his debut at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard in 2007, he was just another highly-talented F1 hopeful, albeit one who’d already won two races.

Now the second most successful driver in terms of wins and championships behind Michael Schumacher, with 84 wins and six titles to his name compared to Schumacher’s 91 wins and seven titles, looking back to his drive up the Hill in the 2006 McLaren MP4-21 feels almost odd. Who would have known that this smiling young man would go on to become the motorsport icon he is today?
