Video: How to make a Lister-Costin faster

07th November 2019
Ben Miles

The Costin-bodied lister is an interesting machine. It basically takes one of the most popular racing cars of its era, and clothes it in a streamlined body, designed to make it go, well, faster.

You can read all about the history of that effort, and the coupe that eventually evolved, right here, but the pressing subject at the 2019 Goodwood Revival, was how to make that fast car, even faster. So fast that driver David Hart could compete with the big boys at the front of the Sussex Trophy. The Knobblies, Ferrari 246S Dino and co.

David turned to Woodham Mortimer to complete that job, and after a reasonable amount of work, the Lister would not only be faster, but fast enought to bring David the fastest lap of the race.

You can rewatch the whole of the 2019 Sussex Trophy right here.
