The 2023 F2 championship ended up with 26 races over 13 rounds after the cancellation of the Emiglia Romagna Grand Prix led to the knock on removal of the Imola round of the F2 championship. This year F2 will return to that 14 round plan, with all other races remaining the same other than Qatar.
The switch, removing a round in the crowded summer months, will mean there isn’t as long a break in the season after the European rounds end in September. After Monza at the start of September the F2 teams will head to Baku two weeks later before a month’s gap. Then a back-to-back trip to the Middle East will include races at Lusail in Qatar and Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.
The season will kick off nine months earlier in Bahrain alongside the first round of the F1 championship and follow Formula 1 into a back-to-back with Jeddah. Australia will follow at the end of March before a near-two-month gap allows the cars to return to Europe for the round at Imola.
Monaco, Barcelona, Speilberg, Silverstone, Budapest and Spa will make up the bulk of the European season before the traditional summer break. The cars and teams returning to action at Monza before the new run in. The return to a 14 round calendar means 28 races for the F2 teams, with more flyaway events outside of Europe than ever before.
