Mad Mike is building a 1,200PS rotary Mazda 3

Mad Mike’s crazy cars have never failed to entertain at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. But they’ve always been a little… selfish. They were always two-seaters. Well, now, Mike is planning some rotary fun the whole family can enjoy…

This is our first look at Mike’s Pikes Peak build, a four-rotor, 1,200PS (883kW) monster Mazda 3, that will also retain four doors and four seats. Tending to be so compact, it’s actually not such a stretch to suggest how it’ll fit in the hatchback’s engine bay. Less straightforward will be sending power to wheels other than the fronts, given the Mazda 3 was never designed with a prop shaft in mind. The four seats in this render are all buckets naturally and of course, there’s a crazy body kit. The four pipes poking out of the bonnet are a telltale of the fury within. We’ve seen similar items on other cars of Mike’s belching out more flames than a circus performer up the Hill.

It’s nice to see that as a family man Mike’s grown up a bit, though in none of the ways you might fear. It’s still 1,200PS, it’s still a screaming four-rotor… but the kids can come along too. F can be for family AND fun. More on this build as we have it…
