Hennessey to build six-wheel-drive 2,400PS EV hypercar

Hennessey isn’t exactly a company in the business of exercising restraint, its previous track record consisting of 1,000PS-plus (735kW) pick-up trucks, twin-turbo Corvettes and Vipers and world record-contesting hypercars. Its next project will drag the company kicking and screaming into the electric age but don’t worry. They’re not just taking a Honda E and quadrupling its power. They’re making what might be the craziest car of this decade.

Project Deep Space as it’s being referred to will be a six-wheeled, all-wheel-drive, all-electric four-seater hyper GT. Yes, you read that right. Six-wheeled. Being Hennessey, it’ll be power-mad. Each of those six wheels will be getting its own 400PS (294kW) motor for a grand total output of around 2,400PS (1,765kW), or double the power of the Venom GT. Needless to say, it’ll be fast, with the company claiming it’ll be able to set 0-200mph records when released.

The teaser drawings show a car of impossible length that appears a bit more FAB 1 than Tyrrell P34. That impossible length is by John Hennessey’s word, around 20 feet, allowing for a largest-in-industry battery for a spectacular driving range capability.

The six wheels won’t be the only unique feature on this bizarre futuristic sci-fi supercar. As above, yes, it’ll be a four-seater but not a conventional four-seater. This car will have a ‘diamond’ seating layout, with a central driver, two passengers behind and then a single seat behind them. That last seat is referred to as the ‘VVIP’ seat by Hennessey director of design Nathan Malinick, and briefly referred to by John Hennessey as the ‘mother in-law’ seat. The car will come with plenty of luggage space to cater to four occupants too.

While John Hennessey isn’t strictly correct in calling it the world’s first electric hyper GT – the Pininafarina Battista takes that crown – it is claimed to incorporate private jet levels of luxury. Hennessey plans to build 105 examples, each starting at £2.55million when production begins in 2026. Deep Space will be a part of a three-vehicle product plan in the next decade from the tuner-turned-manufacturer.
