GRR Garage: Honda HR-V – warnings that won't go away

Not every car can be perfect. Even though we love our Honda HR-V and its load-lugging capability – despite its smaller stature – we can’t sit here and claim it to be utterly perfect.

Why not? The answer is as simple as a warning light. As you know the HR-V suffered a minor injury not long ago, when it lost it’s front right tyre. No problem, excellent provided pump out, new tyre on, away we go we thought. But then the light telling us about the flat remained lit. The jolly engineer at ATS informed us they couldn’t turn it off but that he was sure it would go away of its own accord.

Here we are three months later and that light is still remaining steadfastly on. Popping up every time we restart the car. It’s just a tiny thing, but one that leads to irritation. You can’t get away from it, there it is all orange and worrying right in your eye line.

We even went so far as to pump the tyres up again. Turns out they are still fine. Please oh please light, could you turn off? Then we can go back to being rather fond of the surprisingly perky, often rather sprightly little HR-V.

Pricetag of our car: £26,780.

MPG this week: 54.4
