Lotus reveals JPS‑liveried Evija Fittipaldi

Liveried up in black and gold, of course the eight Evija Fittipaldi examples pay homage to the iconic Lotus 72, which wore the immortal JPS colours as it raced into the history books. The special touches go beyond a lick of paint, however. There are special ‘Type 72’ wheels in black and gold, while decals on the active rear wing mark out the 72’s race victories from the 1972 season. There’s a number ‘8’ on the B pillar, and ‘Emerson Fittipaldi’ liveried in too.

All brightwork on the inside is presented in gold, including the air vents, centre rotary dial, start/stop button and honeycomb-patterned pedals. These join gold contrast stitching for the black Alcantara interior trim and a plan view of the Lotus 72 stitched into the headlining.

The eight Lotus Evija Fittipaldis planned reflect the eight surviving Lotus 72 chassis, of which all were present for the unveiling of the new car at the Lotus headquarters.

Of course, the Evija was quite a special car to begin with, being, as Lotus claims, the most powerful production car in the world. Its four electric motors provide a combined 2,039PS and 1,704Nm of torque. It’ll get to 62mph in under three seconds and 186mph in under nine seconds, on the way to a 217mph top speed.

Just 130 Evijas are to be made – in line with its Type 130 designation – with eight being this new Fittipaldi edition. All of the Fittipaldis are sold, but if you fancy an Evija there are still a few build slots left if you’ve got the requisite seven figures going spare.
