This, ladies and gentlemen, is an Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 ‘Daytona’. It is quite possibly the most beautiful Alfa Romeo ever made.

‘Most beautiful Alfa Romeo ever made’ is quite a sentence given Alfa's back-catalogue, but it is bite-the-back-of-your-hand-beautiful. It is also, as you’ll hear, a car that emits quite a joyous soundtrack.

The Tipo 33/2, built for the 1968 motorsport season, was a reworked follow-up to the Tipo 33 that Alfa Romeo raced in 1967. It had a 2.0-litre, dry-sumped, all-aluminium V8 with around 273PS (270bhp), and made its debut at the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona. Three cars entered and every one of them finished, with a class win (the 2.0-litre class) and overall fifth, sixth and seventh. From then on it carried the name ‘Tipo 33/2 Daytona’.

So, what do you think, is it the most beautiful Alfa ever?
