Gallery: Exploring March Motor Works

15th September 2019
Andrew Evans

For the 2019 Revival the BMW Group has again transformed the March Motor Works area into a period diorama.

The late-‘50s themed exhibition space shows off models from the group’s brands as they appeared in 1959, as the area harks back to the International Motor Show at Earls Court that year.

This display includes BMW’s own 700, introduced in August that year, and the BMW 600 and BMW Isetta (Isetta 300) microcars – the latter wearing a period Lufthansa livery.

You’ll find a pair of Rolls-Royce models on the stand too, with a black and red 1959 Silver Cloud I convertible taking centre stage.

BMW’s Motorrad motorbike division is represented, too, with three bikes from the era: R27; R50 S; and R69 S.

Of course there’s a significant Mini presence too, in the marque’s 60th anniversary year. A cinema at the side of the stand is showing a documentary film titled “The Incredible Seven”, commissioned by the British Motor Corporation (BMW) in 1961 to show the story of the car.

If you haven’t already explored March Motor Works, it’s well worth a look.
