Erecting the footbridge between ‘Over The Road’ and the Motor Circuit for Goodwood Revival always feels like an important moment. Even more so when we drape the famous Roy Salvadori 'Give me Goodwood on a summer's day and you can forget the rest of the world' quote from its structure.
There’s always the worry that it might come back to haunt us, with an early onset of Autumn rain and chills. Thankfully, we needn’t have worried this year as the entire weekend – and especially Saturday – was steeped in glorious sunshine and soaring temperatures.
Temperatures too were on the upward curve on the historic circuit, as racing proper kicked-off across all classes and marques, not least within the hotly contested and ever-competitive Settrington Cup.
From pedal power to horsepower, across four and two wheels, Saturday’s sell-out crowd was treated to a memorable day of historic motor racing, iconic displays, and all in all, a proper stonker of a day-out in the English countryside before we say goodbye to the summer season for another year.
If you missed out on the action, worry not. Our merry band of photographers were on the ground from first light until well after the evening ball to capture the best moments of the day. Enjoy the scroll!
