The Whitsun Trophy is one of the longest running fixtures of the Goodwood Revival — and one of the best-loved, too. It’s easy to understand why if you’ve been trackside to witness it first-hand; these thundering unlimited sports prototypes from the 1960s look and make a sound that you can feel.

It first ran in 2001, when Frank Sytner claimed the win with a Cooper T61 ‘Monaco’. Since then, we have had a wide variety of winners with very few drivers claiming more than one Whitsun Trophy victory.
The first to do so was Frank Sytner who completed a hat-trick of consecutive wins in 2002, 2003 and yet another 2006, each time aboard a Lola T70 Spyder. The British Touring Car Champion is by far the most successful Whitsun Trophy driver.
Only two other drivers have claimed multiple Whitsun Trophy victories, namely Mike Whitaker (2018 and 2020), and Oliver Bryant (2022 and 2024). Like Sytner, they claimed their wins with a Lola T70 Spyder.
There has been less variety when it comes to the winning car. The T70 has been a force to be reckoned with over the years, triumphing in half of all runnings of the Whitsun Trophy. Ford GT40s and McLaren M1As and M1Bs are also consistent front runners, but there has been variety, too. Standout results include wildcard wins from a Lotus 19 with Rob Huff in 2016, and a Chinook Mk2 with Jay Esterer in 2011.
