The Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy delivers some welcome two-wheeled action in among all the car racing at the Goodwood Revival. The inherent drama is heightened too by the Le Mans-style start, seeing the riders run across the track, mount up and launch for the best start possible.
The number 55 Brooks/Kingham Vincent Black Shadow made an excellent getaway as the scrum behind jostled for position, as did the number 17 Hillier/Thomas Matchless machine which was first on the grid. Brooks set a fastest lap at around the eight-minute mark, with the battle between the lead machines really heating up in the last few minutes, as places changed and backmarkers complicated things.
