Saturday morning at the 83rd Members’ Meeting

The 83rd Members’ Meeting gets underway with the first two-wheeled action of the weekend, as the 250cc and 350cc Grand Prix motorcycles of the Hailwood Trophy (ft. Sheene Trophy) take to the Motor Circuit for Official Practice. It's a 15-minute session where riders will be under pressure to set a quick lap time, because the results will set the grid for Part 1.

Official Practice for Part 1 of the Win Percy Trophy follows at 09:40 with the smaller capacity Group 1 touring cars getting their first taste of action. Minis, Escorts, Dolomite Sprints and Golf GTIs will all be vying for pole position.

It’s the S.F. Edge Trophy next, the incredible field of pre-war machinery from the early 1900s will fire up for the first time for Official Practice at 10:25, before the brand-new Protheroe Cup get its first moment in the limelight. A full field of stunning Jaguar E-types will flow out onto the Motor Circuit for their Official Practice session at 10:50.

Formula 1 action commences at 11:30 when the man of the moment Jenson Button will emerge from the Assembly Area at the wheel of his World Championship-winning Brawn BGP001. This is the first of two opportunities to see the 2009 Champion in action over the weekend, not to mention experience the stunning sound of that 2.4-litre V8 engine.

Following that we return to return to pre-war action with Official Practice for the Varzi Trophy. These 1920s and ‘30s Grand Prix cars are a little more modern than the primitive machines of the S.F. Edge Trophy, but no less fascinating to see in action a full century on from their origins.

Saturday afternoon at the 83rd Members’ Meeting

You’d better be quick with your lunch, because the action continues unabated with Official Practice for the Bruce McLaren Trophy. The fastest and most powerful cars racing at the 83rd Members’ Meeting will be unleashed onto the Motor Circuit at 12:15. You’ll know when it’s time because your ear drums will start rattling.

It just keeps picking up on Saturday afternoon, because the first Super Touring demonstration of the weekend will get underway at 12:40 before Practice for the Super Touring Shoot-Out begins straight afterwards at 13:00. It’s going to be epic as a field of motorsport icons floods the Motor Circuit with nostalgia, prepare to be taken back to the 1990s with this celebration of touring car racing’s golden era.

The historic motorsport programme continues apace with Official Practice for the Phil Hill Cup at 13:20, before the big-capacity tin tops of the Gordon Spice Trophy begin their 30-minute, two-driver Official Practice session at 13:45.

The final Official Practice session of the day commences at 14:25 with the first appearance of the gorgeous early-1950s sportscars of the Peter Collins Trophy. A race that evokes the original Goodwood 9 Hour races, we always love to see the cars that helped to put this Motor Circuit on the map back in action.

Goodwood’s going to come over all 1970s at 14:25 when we all take a moment to embrace the memory of James Hunt. One of motorsport’s most beloved characters, the 1976 F1 World Champion has become a legend for fans all over the world, and this year’s celebration of ‘The James Hunt Years’ will encapsulate everything that we love about the man. A demonstration featuring ‘70s F1 cars that Hunt either drove or raced against will inspire awe and emotion in equal measure as the sound of Cosworth DFVs will ring out around the West Sussex countryside. We can’t wait to see these cars in action.

That leads nicely into our first historic race of the weekend, when the Union Flag drops for Part 1 of the Win Percy Trophy at 15:20. But no sooner will we have crowned the first winner of the 83rd Members’ Meeting than we’ll be teleported back into the ‘70s again, this time in celebration of another British motorsport icon.

Goodwood is remembering Barry Sheene throughout the 2026 motorsport season, and the Motor Circuit will host a commemoration of his career with a selection of 500cc Grand Prix motorcycles that best portray ‘The Barry Sheene Years’.

Motorcycles return at 16:25 for the Hailwood Trophy (ft. Sheene Trophy) Part 1, before things get serious for Super Touring Shoot-Out Qualifying at 17:00. Each driver will have one chance to reach the top of the leaderboard to set the running order for the Shoot-Out Final on Sunday.

As the sun begins to set, Part 1 of the S.F. Edge Trophy will begin at 17:45, where cars more than a century old will dice wheel-to-wheel in an astonishing showcase of driver skill and bravery.

The track action on Saturday at the 83rd Members’ Meeting will end with the Protheroe Cup, when a field of Jaguar E-types compete over a 45-minute, two-driver race that will run into the April sunset.

Sunday morning at the 83rd Members’ Meeting

It’ll be another busy day for the cars of the Win Percy Trophy on Sunday, they get the action on track off to a spritely start with Official Practice for Part 2 at 09:00. The owners will assume control of these small-capacity Group 1 touring cars for a final Hail Mary performance after the exploits of their VIP team-mates on Saturday.

The Derek Bell Cup is exclusive to Sunday at the 83rd Members’ Meeting, so if you’re particularly keen on 500cc Formula 3 cars, this is your only opportunity to see them in action. Official Practice for these diminutive single seaters kicks off at 09:25.

Super Tourers return at 09:50 for their final demonstration of the weekend, with the last Super Touring Shoot-Out Practice session following on at 10:10. This is bound to be an intense ten minutes of relentless speed as the Shoot-Out drivers try desperately to nail down the perfect lap, building up to Sunday afternoon’s Shoot-Out Final.

We’ll enjoy our first historic racing action of the day when the Varzi Trophy begins at 10:40. The Edwardian leviathans return for Part 2 of the S.F. Edge Trophy at 11:30 for what will be the final action of the weekend for these 100-year-old cars.

Super Sunday at the 83rd Members’ Meeting

Sunday afternoon is set to be a crescendo of unforgettable motorsport action; you’re going to want to stay close to the Motor Circuit as the great racing and unmissable moments come thick and fast.

Super Sunday begins with the return of Jenson Button and his Brawn GP F1 car for his second demonstration of the weekend at 12:00. Like a warning alarm, that Mercedes V8 howl will signal the beginning of a packed afternoon of historic racing that kicks off with the savagery of the Bruce McLaren Trophy at 12:25.

The monstrous V8 barrage continues at 13:05 with the ‘66s GT and sportscars of the Phil Hill Cup, and intensity ramps up further still when the 45-minute, two-driver Gordon Spice Trophy gets underway at 13:45.

We head back to the ‘70s at 15:05 with another moment to remember ‘The James Hunt Years’, and the motorcycles of ‘The Barry Sheene Years’ will follow at 15:15 to round off a weekend of celebrations for two of British motorsport’s most beloved heroes.
