The Moss Trophy stands out as one of the definitive highlights of the 84th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. Dedicated to the memory of 'Mr. Goodwood', Sir Stirling Moss, this spectacular grid gathers the finest pre-1963 GT cars for a high-speed homage to an icon of British motorsport.

In the most beautiful race of the weekend, closed-cockpit GT cars of a type that raced before 1963 will take to the Motor Circuit for the Moss Trophy, machinery Sir Stirling Moss routinely steered to victory around Goodwood’s high-speed curves.
Yet, as breathtaking as this multimillion-pound field is to witness, these cars are far from museum pieces. They’re built to get stuck in, and this race is renowned for delivering fierce, modern-day competition.
Moss remains one of the nation’s greatest racing heroes, accumulating over 200 race wins before a career-ending crash at Goodwood in 1962. His journey began in British Formula 3 in 1948, rapidly expanding into a multi-discipline masterclass throughout the 1950s. After making his Formula 1 debut in 1951, he went on to drive for legendary outfits including Daimler-Benz, Maserati, Vanwall and the Rob Walker Racing Team — claiming his historic first Grand Prix victory at Aintree in 1955 behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz W196.

His sportscar pedigree was equally unmatched, featuring triumphs at the Sebring 12 Hours, the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio. At the wheel of a David Brown-entered Aston Martin DB3S, Moss also secured a brilliant second place overall at the 1956 Le Mans 24 Hours alongside Peter Collins. Goodwood, however, was his spiritual home; Moss won the RAC Tourist Trophy here a record seven times, including a legendary four-year consecutive streak from 1958 to 1961.
Of all the machinery he mastered, the car Moss revered above all was the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB. He constantly praised its flawless balance and reliability, winning seven of the eight races he entered with it.

It is this final, golden era of Moss’ frontline career that this namesake contest celebrates. Expect to see exquisite trading paint with gorgeous and sleek – a grid mirroring the peak of the RAC TT battles Moss so famously dominated.
At Members’ Meeting, the Moss Trophy takes the form of a 20-minute sprint, a solitary battle of driver and machine from the drop of the flag to the finish line that demands total commitment from the very first second. As we fondly remember the incomparable Sir Stirling Moss, this short, sharp blast of closed-cockpit GT cars promises to be one of the weekend's highlights.
