Here’s another YouTube installment from Porsche’s resident historian Dieter Landenberger. This time he’s looking at Walter Rhörl’s San Remo rally car from 1981. Back then, he almost won the rally outright until a mechanical failure led to a DNF. The car went into the Porsche museum collection and was restored a couple of years ago. Its first post-restoration outing was in Australia where, very authentically, the same mechanical problem caused a DNF! The rebuild was nothing if not accurate.
