When you think of Porsche in motorsport, what image floats before your mind? For me it’s always a Gulf-liveried 917, usually being driven sideways at Brands Hatch by Pedro Rodriguez, but for you it could be an Ickx or a Bell winning Le Mans in 956, or a modern 919 Hybrid doing the same. It might be Mark Donohue trouncing the Can-Am field in an 1,100bhp 917-30, or any one of many hundreds of drivers wheeling a 911 around a track. I doubt that too many of you are thinking of either a Porsche Cayman or a rally car… But now that seems likely all to change.
Thank Frankel it's Friday: Are Porsche about to go rallying?
