Gallery: GR 86 dances up a storm at FOS

In amongst the unobtanium and exotica, the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is known so well for, are nestled some real people’s heroes. This year, Toyota was making a splash with the GR 86, a replacement for the fantastic GT86. Two cars, one in white and one in red, took to the Hill in tandem.

It’s much prettier than the first generation but you’ll be happy to note the essential recipe for the car has been evolved rather than completely changed. The flat-four engine now displaces 2.4 litres, producing 235PS (173kW) and 250Nm (185lb ft). Those are healthy but not excessive bumps over the outgoing GT86’s figures which were sometimes criticised for not being quite enough. Between this and the Lotus Emira, there was plenty to be bothering your preferred finance broker about at the 2021 Festival of Speed.
