Sir Lewis Hamilton inspires STEM superstars of the future

Sir Lewis Hamilton’s Mission 44 is empowering young people to become STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) innovators of the future, much like FOS Future Lab presented by Randox, where cutting-edge technologies combine against the blistering backdrop of motorsport that is the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

FOS Future Lab is about inspiring the next generation of inventors and explorers against the blistering backdrop of high-octane motorsport. So when we heard Sir Lewis Hamilton had launched a new partnership to equip young people with the skills to become a science, tech, engineering or maths (STEM) guru, we wanted to know more.

Mission 44, founded by the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, draws on Hamilton’s personal journey through education and motorsport to create opportunities for underrepresented youth. Announced at the Miami Grand Prix, Mission 44 is aiming to help 150 million young people globally by 2030 by providing the tech, training, skills and mentorship to become innovators.

The multi-year partnership with computer giant HP has been described as “a significant step towards creating a more inclusive future in STEM,” leveraging HP’s resources to help children in underserved communities.

Kicking off in Miami itself, the partnership will initially support two local tech hubs: America on Tech, which builds early-career pipelines in fields like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and Miami EdTech, which focuses on workforce development through computer science and digital skilling. These hubs provide access to advanced technology, mentorship and industry-aligned training, creating clear pathways to STEM careers.

Mission 44 isn’t just about motorsport. Hamilton wants to inspire young people to move into other areas, such as aerospace – another huge part of the Goodwood Future Lab. A visit this summer means you’ll get up close and personal with eVTOL aircraft, drones, autonomous vehicles, subsea exploration, space travel technology and AI-driven design – fields that demand the STEM skills Mission 44 and HP are cultivating.

By bringing together a global tech leader and local non-profits, we know we can make a meaningful impact for young people, raising aspirations and achievement, and enabling access to exciting careers in STEM.

The partnership’s launch at the Miami Grand Prix meant a few lucky young people even got to meet Hamilton, before touring the Scuderia Ferrari HP Team garage and speaking with Ferrari experts about STEM careers in motorsport—from engineering and data analytics to aerodynamics.

You’ll find motorsport inspiration everywhere at Goodwood, of course, but a visit to the Future Lab is also a chance to get hands-on with robotics and virtual reality, in what can only be described as a massive, interactive learning environment where visionary technologies and ideas converge to inspire and innovate. This UK expansion will bring similar opportunities to communities near Goodwood, fostering local talent in STEM. We can’t wait to welcome you.

The 2026 Festival of Speed takes place 9 to 12 July. Tickets are still available.
