For most of us mere mortals the prospect of putting our foot down in a car with an 8.3-litre, 750PS, V8 engine would cause us to lose consciousness. For Richard Attwood, though, it’s just one of those things you do.

Richard Attwood, as you may well know, won the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans with Hans Herrmann in the Porsche 917K, Porsche’s first of 19 Le Mans wins, making it the most successful manufacturer in the race’s history.

That win, combined with his experience in so many other preposterously powerful cars, means he’s no stranger to speed, and something like the McLaren M20 is simply a very lovely, very special vehicle with which to enjoy a nice afternoon drive.
