2026 Chichester Cup preview | Goodwood Revival

15th September 2026
Annabel Heaton

Named after the city that neighbours the Goodwood Motor Circuit, the Chichester Cup was first held in West Sussex in 1949 and remained a staple throughout the 1950s and ‘60s, launching the careers of motorsport greats including  Jim Clark and John Surtees. At the Goodwood Revival presented by Dunlop, it’s a 20-minute race showcasing rear-engined, drum-braked Formula Junior cars from the dawn of this entry-level single-seater series and is always a fixture that delivers highly competitive racing.

Much like the drivers, the machinery in this year's pack features plenty of proven pedigree. Dominant models like the Alexis-Ford Mk2, Lotus-Ford 22 and Cooper-BMCs return to the grid with victories under their belts, though many will be wondering if this could be the historic first win for Wingett’s 1962 Elfin Formula Junior.
