Scan the list below of winners of the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul and you’ll see a who’s who of national and international motorsport names. You only have to rewind to the very first running of the race in 2006 and you’ll see that five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell claimed the first victory, sharing Grant Williams’ Jaguar Mk1.

Back in 2006 there were two standalone races, but when the St. Mary’s Trophy returned in 2009 there was also a combined result for the two races. It has been a fixture of the Goodwood Revival every year since.

Nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen has followed in the footsteps of his fellow 24 Hours victor Bell with five St. Mary’s Trophy wins. Most recently, he has become synonymous with the oversized Ford Thunderbird which, together with the Galaxie and Zodiac, has been a bit of an invasion of Fords from across the Atlantic. In 2025, its run was brought to an end by Gordon Shedden and Chris Ward with a Jaguar Mk1.

Further back in history, smaller and more plucky cars have crossed the line first, with Austin A40s and varied Alfa Romeo saloons claiming top spot. In 2009, a Mini was guaranteed a win as it was a single-make field (aside from one related Wolseley Hornet saloon). Similarly, 2016 saw the field given over to Austin A30s and A35s.
