At the 2026 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, McLaren electrified the paddocks by pulling the wraps off the all-new MCL-HY Hypercar, the weapon engineered to spearhead the team's assault on the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours.

First teased earlier this year in a striking test livery honouring the historic McLaren M6A, the unmasking of this cutting-edge machine generated a massive wave of excitement across the event.
This is far more than just a new racing car; it’s a full-throttle reignition of Bruce McLaren’s original, uncompromising dream. By entering the premier class of endurance racing, McLaren is drawing a direct line from its dominant Can-Am era of the late 1960s and ’70s to the historic Le Mans triumph of the legendary McLaren F1 GTR in 1995.
Crucially, the arrival of the MCL-HY signals the rebirth of McLaren’s quest for the elusive Triple Crown of motorsport, the legendary trifecta encompassing victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500, and Le Mans — something the team will be uniquely positioned to capture.
Beneath its beautifully sculpted, wind-tunnel-honed bodywork lies a masterclass in extreme engineering. The MCL-HY seamlessly blends an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis with exceptional mechanical balance. True to its hypercar pedigree, the heart of the beast is a ferocious twin-turbocharged V6 race engine paired with a high-performance hybrid MGU system.
This lethal combination unleashes a staggering 707PS (520kW) directly to the rear axle. Tipping the scales at a razor-thin minimum weight of just 1,030kg, the vehicle delivers a power-to-weight ratio specifically designed to sustain outright, high-speed performance across 24-hour marathons.
The MCL-HY is the result of a tightly integrated collaboration, blending the engineering and aerodynamic know-how of McLaren Racing with the design DNA of McLaren Automotive. When the covers came off at the Festival of Speed, it became clear that this machine isn't just built to compete, but to make history.
The 2027 Festival of Speed will take place on 15th-18th July 2027, sign up for ticket alerts to make sure you don't miss out. Tickets are available for GRRC Members and Fellows, you can join the Fellowship today.
