Renault will bring its R5 Turbo 3E to the 2023 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, piloted by touring car legend Yvan Muller.
In what is sure to be a series of pretty spectacular runs up the Hill throughout the event, this extreme electric prototype, with its carbon-fibre body and pair of rear-mounted electric motors producing 380PS (280kW) and 700Nm (516lb ft) of torque, will be looking to prove that EVs can be just as exciting as a V12 supercar.
Alongside its theatrics on the Hill, Renault will also display a number of other electric models: the Renault 5 Prototype, which is creeping ever closer to entering production on its way to hitting the market in 2024, the Renault 4Ever Trophy concept, the garish Renault 5 Diamant concept, and the ‘Mute the Hot Rod’ – a reimagining of the 1924 Renault MT – which will also be taking to the Hill on Thursday before returning to the Renault stand for the rest of the weekend.
Aside from the fantastical and futuristic, Renault is also showcasing a selection of its latest electrified models that you can actually buy right now. The Austral E-Tech hybrid, a compact crossover, and the Megane E-Tech, which will sit inside Electric Avenue.
