The Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy is the most beautiful race of the Goodwood Revival, no arguments. Attracting all the stars and a lineup of the most stunning cars the Revival has to offer, there’s just no beating it. With a lineup of Ferraris, Aston Martins, Jaguars, Cobras, Healeys and more, there’s something like £200million worth of cars lining up to do battle.

Licking his wounds from a practice prang, Jimmie Johnson came into this race with a point to prove in the blue Aston Martin DB4 GT that he was sharing with Dario Franchitti. Off the starting block, it was a battle of two E-Types and two Cobras that we expected to play out before us. What transpired was very different.

As the Buncombes were among a number to bow out early, Johnson and Franchitti, even though they started from ninth, capitalised on a dry track and absolutely flew up the order to take the lead. With the Greensall/Spiers Cobra and Jordan/Hartley Jnr Cobra best-placed to pursue, all that was left, was to hang on to the lead. Watch for the full race…
