All the cars in the Duemila Ruote (two thousand wheels) sale in Milan were sold as seen and without reserve, leading many to expect a classic car bonanza. With 430 cars – Concours winners to basket cases – plus 150 motorcycles, 60 boats and hundreds of items of automobilia, RM Sotheby’s billed the sale as the largest auto-themed collection ever.
“It was an unbelievable weekend with unprecedented crowds and outstanding prices,” reports RM Sotheby’s, whose next sale in Daytona, Florida, through December 3rd and 4th. It will include the last LaFerrari made, and all proceeds will go to the reconstruction of central Italy following the devastating earthquakes earlier this year.
