How do you celebrate 100 years since the founder of your rather bonkers supercar company was born? How about a 760bhp, 6.5-litre V12-powered hypercar that's limited to just 20 examples, will hit 62mph in 2.8 seconds and looks like nothing you've ever seen on the road?
Video: Is the 760bhp Centenario the ultimate expression of Lamborghini?
That's exactly what Lamborghini have done to celebrate 100 years since Ferruccio Lamborghini was born. The result is this – the Lamborghini Centenario. Quite probably one of the most jaw-droppingly incredible machines we at GRR have ever been lucky enough to get our hands on.
Before it made its Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard debut, Lamborghini handed this car (number 0 of 20) over to us at the circuit, and let us do whatever we wished for an afternoon. All €1.75million of it... So we put together this little video, which hopefully conveys just how astonishing a machine it is – both in terms of looks and to drive.
The Centenario is more than just a re-bodied Aventador, it's a technical showcase for the next generation of Lamborghini machines. One upon which the Italian marque debuts rear-wheel steering, a new focus on the use of carbon-fibre (it's now 55kg lighter than the Aventador), a new infotainment system and an incredible array of active aerodynamics.
All this combines to make the Centenario the perfect car to continue our series on Speed and Syle presented by the Festival of Speed's official timing partner, Montblanc.
