Revival news! Ferraris only in Lavant Cup

Few will forget the spectacle of last year’s Lavant Cup race at the Revival when a field full of Jaguar D-Types and XKSSs created a screaming sea of (mostly) racing green (race highlights here).

Those who wondered how Goodwood could follow such a sight need wait no longer, with the announcement that the Lavant Cup at this year’s Revival will be for Ferrari racing sports cars of the Fifties. Think 166M, 340MM, 375MM, 750 Monza and 250 Testa Rossa (main pic). These were the cars which elevated Ferrari’s reputation, claiming five World Sportscar Championship titles and chalking up major wins in all the famous races like Le Mans, Spa, Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, Nurburgring …

Bear in mind too that these are widely considered to be some of the most beautiful racing cars ever built and then imagine them howling around Goodwood in September. Pure motor racing heaven. It’s almost a shame that we have to wait almost nine months for it to happen! But of course between now and then there’s the small matter of the 73rd Members’ Meeting and the Festival of Speed to keep you entertained. In the words of the late Tommy Trinder, ‘you lucky people!’
