Video: Bonkers pre‑war battle leads to epic last lap

When the Goodwood Motor Circuit opened in 1948, it was pre-war machines that first did battle around the former airfield site. The likes of ERAs, Maseratis and Bugattis would battle around the 2.3-mile track. In 1951, it was exactly these kinds of cars that lined up for a race the coincided with the Festival of Britain. Seventy years later, the event was recreated. The result? A wonderfully close battle between the ERAs of Michael Gans and Mark Gillies.
