Settrington Cup Part 2 highlights

Part 2 of the Settrington Cup was another fierce contest, with drivers pedalling at a rate only Olympic cyclists would be able to keep up with. Fighting lactic acid all the way, there was no guarantee the front runners would be able to maintain their speed to the end. But somehow Cyrus Majzub managed to lead from start to finish, crossing the line as five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Derek Bell waved the chequered flag. Tomas Mitrikas came home in second followed by George English-Hurt in third.

Settrington Cup Part 1 highlights

The Settrington Cup race for Austin J40 pedal cars has been run since 2012 and is now one of the firm favourites of the Goodwood Revival weekend. With a Le Mans start and a gruelling 247-yard course, it’s a real workout for the fiercely competitive drivers who take part.

The overall result will be aggregated from both parts, but all riders are seeking glory in Part 1. This race has the largest entry list of the weekend, and there are some famous surnames in there, too, since the children racing Austin J40 pedal cars are often related to competitors in some of Revival’s other fixtures.

Part 1 belonged to Arthur Jones from the start. From his prime grid position, he left the rest of the field behind to its five-abreast battle through the chicane to claim a convincing win. He was followed home by Joshua Pearce and Charlie Rhodes.
