The top 10 sales at the 2026 Bonhams Revival auction

The oldest car among them was one of two Rolls-Royces, the newest a barely-used Ferrari 458 Italia — this time one of three representatives of its marque. Here’s our run-down of the headline sales...

1936 Aston Martin 2-Litre Speed Model Competition Two-Seater

Sold for £345,000 including premium

This Aston Martin started life as a two/four-seater Speed Model in December 1936 before coming into the ownership of prominent racing driver TASO Mathieson, known as Taso from his initials. He prepared the car for racing, which is when it gained the body work from a 1½-litre Aston Martin Ulster. 

It had a busy life of competition, including an entry into the 1948 Spa 24 Hours, and in 1978 it was bought by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason. It has changed hands since, and comes with stacks of history that added to its appeal as the most valuable lot to sell at this Bonhams|Cars auction.

1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS

Sold for £310,500 including premium

Fast-forward a few decades and we have this Ferrari Dino 246 GTS. The name denotes that it’s a later model which benefitted from a longer wheelbase and 2.4-litre version of the V6. The engine in this car needed a rebuild in the 1980s following a dropped exhaust valve, and a second engine rebuild took place in the 1990s. The history file also confirms four owners prior to current late owner who bought the Dino in 1984.

Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM Competition Saloon

Sold for £253,000 including premium

Here’s a DTM spec Mercedes-Benz CLK that we know; it has made an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Chassis number RS00-001 was built as a test and development car by HWA, which was running the factory cars at the time, and was never raced in period. 

In fact, it has only competed once since. It was owned by Brazilian billionaire businessman Pedro Diniz who used it at his private track. During his ownership, it was raced at the 2006 Mil Milhas of Interlagos, driven to second place by Tony Kanaan, Raul Boesel and Pedro Lamy. Since changing hands in 2006 it has been used for track days, and has recently had a refresh and airfield shakedown.

1971 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 Berlinetta

Sold for £253,000 including premium

This Ferrari 365 GT underwent a bare metal rotisserie restoration in 2021 and remains in immaculate condition according to the Bonhams|Cars listing. During the restoration, the owner briefed ADP Classic Racing to undertake some modifications to the car. For instance, the bumpers replicate the items from the 500 Superfast while the rear lamps are inspired by the GTC/4. There were also tweaks to the interior, including matt black leather trim for the dashboard. There’s Bluetooth, too. The intention was to remain true to the original design.

1912 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost Roi des Belges style Tourer

Sold for £195,500 including premium

Now for something completely different. This Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost was originally built with landaulette coachwork by Mulliners before undergoing the first of three coachwork changes in around 1925. Martin & King altered it to the saloon body ahead of the car being shipped to Australia. While it was still down under, the body was changed again in the 1960s. It was after the car returned to the UK that it received the Roi des Belges replica bodywork it still has today.

1980 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Sold for £189,750 including premium

The Vantage name was resurrected in 1977 after a hiatus, and heralded the return of the flagship V8 model. Power was increased and the aesthetics were beefed up, but alterations to the chassis were minimal, extending to uprated brakes and lower profile tyres. This Aston Martin V8 Vantage has been in the same ownership since 2010 during which time the vendor has spent more than £170,000 on its upkeep. That includes a five-year restoration between 2010 and 2015. That alone accounts for £158,574 of the overall spend.

2010 Ferrari 458 Italia Coupé

Sold for £178,250 including premium

Turning to something a little more modern, now. The thing that makes this Ferrari 458 Italia stand out is that it has been very little used with just 1,400 miles on the odometer. It’s intrinsically desirable anyway as the last of the naturally-aspirated V8 Ferraris. In its regular form 569PS (418kW) form, it was faster around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track than the outgoing range-topping 430 Scuderia. 

This one was kept in a private collection in Hong Kong before being bought by the current vendor from the Bonhams|Cars Bond Street Sale in December 2025 for £162,150 including premium. Since then, it has undergone work at Meridien Modena on paint, servicing and maintenance and covered around 100 miles.

1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Drophead Coupé

Sold for £166,750 including premium

This Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Drophead Coupé was ordered new by Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton for her first husband, Prince Alexis Mdivani, and its detailed history file documents all its owners to date. It’s one of just three Phantom II Continental Sedanca Drophead Coupés coachbuilt by Thrupp & Maberly. As a qualified pilot, Mdivani commissioned the aviation-inspired cockpit. A bonnet extended by four inches was also his idea.

Hutton and Mdivani’s relationship didn’t last long. Mdivani kept the car after the divorce and crashed it, fatally. The Rolls-Royce was returned to Hutton and it’s believed she had it repaired by Thrupp & Maberly.

1936 Frazer Nash-BMW 319 Type 55 Roadster

Sold for £166,750 including premium

This Frazer Nash harks from the era when AFN had a deal to import BMWs to be sold as Frazer Nash-BMWs, some with British coachwork others with German. It comes with competition history and it’s believed to have been owned by the current family in the 1940s. An engine rebuild in the winter of 2024/25 is still fresh. It features two modifications: a Volvo Amazon synchromesh gearbox gearbox and twin, rather than triple, Solex carburettors. The original parts have been supplied with the car so it can be returned to standard.

1958 Porsche 356A Speedster

Sold for £155,250 including premium

The Porsche 356A Speedster was the brainchild of US importer Max Hoffman. It was conceived as a cheaper, stripped out version of the 356 to compete with more affordable British sportscars and it was a sales success. This example is from the final year of Speedster production before it was replaced by the Convertible D. An older restoration was completed in 1997 and has been in the UK prior to its sale in 2000. Most recently it has been in a collection in Japan and placed on static display.
