New for 2026, the race was preceded by a grid walk and a driver parade featuring vintage double-decker buses. By the time the cars were on track anticipation had reached fever pitch. The grid itself was a mix of seasoned winners of the RAC TT Celebration, Tom Ingram and Jack Tetley in the AC Cobra locked down pole position, flanked closely by the TVR Griffith 400 of Rob Whitaker and Dario Franchitti, alongside the "semi-lightweight" Jaguar E-type of Gordon Shedden and Chris Meins.
When the flag dropped, the TVR Griffith lunged into the lead ahead of the Cobra, while the CUT 8 Jaguar ran wide off the track before scrambling back into the melee. Behind them, a fierce duel ignited as the Shelby Cobra of Andrew Jordan and Matt Holme squared off against the Dixon/Whiteside Jaguar E-type. Charging through Madgwick with breathless speed, the Jaguar gained the upper hand to lead the chasing pack out of Fordwater.
Further back, the CUT 7 Jaguar of Matt Neal and Stuart Kent was carving through the field and quickly latched onto the tails of the Whittaker/Dixon E-type, triggering a spell of breathless, bumper-to-bumper action. The charge was short-lived, however, as the CUT 7 slid off the tarmac at Woodcote and opened the door for the Halusa/Lotterer E-type to storm through. With the fire fully lit, the duo immediately joined a frantic podium battle, leaving the top five cars blanketed by just four seconds.
Just as the nail-biting action peaked, disaster struck for the pole-sitting Ingram/Tetley AC Cobra. A sudden spin sent it careening off the track, dropping instantly from a podium spot to ninth. Minutes later, with adrenaline pumping, the Dixon/Whiteside E-type clipped the grass and slid out of the top three. When the pit lane finally opened for the driver swaps, the chaos only intensified. The Shedden/Assam USRRC 289 Cobra pirouetted onto the grass before scrambling back into the race, shortly followed by the Egal Jaguar E-type of Bonamy Grimes and Johnny Mowlem, which suffered a heavy lock-up that forced an immediate retirement.
These frantic pit stops and driver changes completely turned the grid on its head. Looking to capitalise on the disruption, Bobby Verdon-Roe stayed out as long as possible in the iconic AC Cobra Snake Eyes, leaving Jason Plato with only 20 minutes of the race to make his mark. As the rest of the field settled into their stints, the gaps began to plummet, leaving the top two cars separated by less than two seconds as they entered the final sprint.
The duel for the victory quickly evolved into a classic Cobra versus Jaguar showdown, with Andrew Jordan and André Lotterer locking horns at every turn. Lotterer’s Jaguar clearly held the pace advantage, looming large in Jordan's mirrors and waiting for the leader to blink. Seizing his moment, Lotterer lunged down the inside line, prevailing after some breathtaking, wheel-to-wheel action. Yet the drama was far from over; further back, Plato was under heavy fire from the recovering CUT 7 Jaguar of Neal and Kent.
The final few laps delivered a spectacular finale to the 2026 Revival. Lotterer took the chequered flag with his arm thrust high in victory, cementing his legacy as one of only three drivers to win the prestigious RAC TT Celebration three times. Following a triumphant parade lap, the celebrations spilled over into pit lane as ecstatic team-mate Halusa leaped over the barriers and was hoisted into the air by Lotterer in unadulterated joy.
